The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is one of the most popular jurisdictions and has been operating since 1984. Under the recent legislation, BVI companies pay no tax at all whether or not they are owned by residents or non-residents. It is a common law jurisdiction and their company law is governed by the 2004 Business Companies Act.
Advantages of BVI Companies
BVI companies are very flexible and are ideal for holding bank accounts and undertaking all types of activities. As there is no public register in the BVI beneficial owners can be directors themselves and fully control everything the company does. The lack of a public register can be a disadvantage and BVI companies are not generally suitable for high profile business.
